3. Anthony Barr

Barr's missteps at linebacker stood out more than his positive plays, but he was serviceable as a downhill pass-rusher. Sadly, that might be the only role suited for him at this stage of his career, as he oftentimes was two steps slow in coverage and filled the wrong gaps defending the run.

Luckily, the Cowboys re-signed Vander Esch and drafted DeMarvion Overshown, who does everything Barr struggled with at a high level, including flying sideline-to-sideline to tackle ball-carriers and being able to defend multiple positions in coverage.

Like Peters and Hilton, Barr might have to wait a little longer to find a new home.

2. Anthony Brown

Brown might end up waiting as long as his former teammates to sign, but for an entirely different reason. As of this writing, the veteran corner is recovering from surgery to repair a torn Achilles suffered in Week 12.

It was brutal timing for Brown, who was in a contract year. Brown was often criticized during his Cowboys tenure, but the secondary struggled mightily in the aftermath of his injury. While rookie DaRon Bland stepped up in a big way, the likes of Kelvin Joseph and Nahshon Wright weren't up to the challenge.

It might behoove the Cowboys to re-sign Brown later in the offseason for extra depth at cornerback. We'll cross that bridge if and when the time comes, but it couldn't hurt to have another experienced veteran in the defensive backfield.
