The Dallas Cowboys' first preseason game is around the corner and while training camp is still ongoing, this year they didn't have any practices with an opposing team.

This means that players that may not have had the best camp are going to need to really stand out in these upcoming preseason games if they want to make the 53-man roster. Some will have more opportunities than others but overall, these games will be their final chance to make a big impression.

With that in mind, let's take a look at a few players on the defensive side of the ball that need to perform at a high level this preseason.

5. Isaiah Land

Land is in a tough spot, much like Bell is in his battle to make the roster at safety. The Cowboys have an abundance of talent at linebacker but Land has been singled out by defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.

Land's blend of speed and pass rush make him an intriguing prospect for Quinn to mold. Is it possible for the Cowboys to sneak him on the final roster? If not, will they be able to stomach losing a talented linebacker they could use down the line?

Land has all the physical tools to get the job done. He just needs to get a better grasp of the scheme in order to solidify a roster spot. The preseason would be a good way to prove it and force the Cowboys to make a tough call.

If that fails, he's a safe bet to end up back with the team's practice squad.
