3. Jayron Kearse and Stephon Gilmore each get a pick
Throughout the first two games, the Cowboys' defense has been simply dominant. They shut out the New York Giants and then gave up just 10 points to the New York Jets this past weekend.
What’s made life so hard on opposing teams is the way they’ve been able to get after the quarterback and cause him to make mistakes. So far, they have 10 sacks and many more pressures which have helped them record five interceptions.
That combination of front-line dominance and secondary aggressiveness is why they’ve led the NFL in takeaways the past two seasons. To make their chances at a three-peat even greater, Dallas added Stephon Gilmore in a trade this offseason. Gilmore ended up with a pick in Week 1 and in Week 2, the opposite starting corner, Trevon Diggs, secured his first.
Unfortunately, that will be the only one Diggs records, since he was lost for the season to an ACL tear in practice on Thursday. Teammates such as Jayron Kearse have been vocal in their support of Diggs and in this bold prediction, he and Gilmore each pay tribute to their friend with an interception.
Josh Dobbs has been decent so far but he hasn't faced a defense this good in 2023. Add in their extra motivation and this could be a rough night for him.
