4 teams that could sign Michael Gallup after Cowboys release
By Jerry Trotta
2. Kansas City Chiefs
It would be awesome to see Gallup link up with Patrick Mahomes.
While the Chiefs signed Marquise "Hollywood" Brown to a one-year contract on Thursday, they likely aren't done adding to their wide receiver room. They released Marquez Valdes-Scantling before free agency and they have major questions behind budding star Rashee Rice, who posted a 79-938-7 line as a rookie, and Brown.
Kadarius Toney can't get out of his own way on and off the field and Skyy Moore has disappointed as a 2022 second round pick. Andy Reid can't keep trotting Toney and Moore out there, so general manager Brett Veach could justify signing Gallup and using the No. 32 overall pick on a receiver.
Gallup would fit Kansas City's offense like a glove. Rice is a YAC monster, but he's more of an underneath receiver despite being 6-foot-2. Meanwhile, Brown brings a big-play dimension, but at 5-foot-9 he doesn't offer much size.
Gallup would give the Chiefs another downfield threat and above-the-rim target for Mahomes. He'd feast on broken plays and his inability to create separation would be shielded by the other weapons in Kansas City's offense.
