3. Calais Campbell

The Cowboys need to do something about that run defense. It has been the Achilles heal of that unit the past two seasons. One defender still on the market is Calais Campbell, who was most recently a member of the Falcons. The news surrounding him has been quiet and as of now there is no indication Atlanta is looking to bring him back.

At 37, Campbell is one of the oldest players still in the league, but had a productive season last year with 56 tackles, one pass defended and one fumble recovery. He also had a bit of resurgence to his career in both Jacksonville and Baltimore. He provided much-needed leadership to defenses that were part of playoff-caliber teams.

With the losses of Dante Fowler and Dorance Armstrong, Dallas needs find replacements for them. Johnathan Hankins also signed with Seattle, leaving potentially Mazi Smith to take over at defensive tackle. Bringing in Campbell could help provide that key veteran leadership in the middle of that defensive line.

The biggest concern that should keep Dallas away is his age. 37 is considered ancient for a defensive end/tackle in today's game. It would also not be surprising if Campbell retires. He would most likely take a veteran minimum wherever he goes if he still wants to play, but Dallas might not have that room financially.

The Cowboys should still consider adding another veteran to this defense outside of Kendricks, but one that still has plenty of tread left on the tire. Campbell might not be the best option.
