2. S/CB Israel Mukuamu

In a development that stunned Cowboys fans, Israel Mukuamu disappeared during the 2023 season after he played a critical role in Dallas' playoff win against the Buccaneers. Matched up against slippery WR Chris Godwin, Mukuamu allowed four catches for 49 yards on eight targets, per PFF.

Mukuamu's performance was a revelation for the secondary, which couldn't stop a nosebleed over the final month of the regular season. It appeared the 2021 sixth-round pick was headed for an uptick in usage in 2023, but he played just 77 snaps all season and was a healthy scratch in eight games.

The emergence of Markquese Belle and Juanyeh Thomas didn't help Mukuamu's case for more snaps, but his disappearance was still stunning. Luckily for Mukuamu, Mike Zimmer has taken a liking to lanky defensive backs.

While there might be a logjam at safety, Mukuamu could leapfrog the aforementioned Nahshon Wright and Eric Scott Jr. as CB4 on the roster. He has the tools to be a strong nickel corner and could potentially be the next man up behind Jourdan Lewis.

We expect to see a lot more of Mukuamu in 2024 now that Quinn is gone.
