4 Cowboys players who won't be missed in 2024
By Jerry Trotta
1. Neville Gallimore, DT
If the Cowboys are to make a deep playoff run in 2024, they need to overhaul their defensive tackle rotation this offseason.
2023 first-round pick Mazi Smith was a colossal disappointment. For whatever reason, the coaching staff asked him to lose weight to convert to a three-tech tackle. That stunted his development beyond meaure. If you thought Smith was invisible this year, Neville Gallimore actually played fewer snaps than the rookie.
A former third-round pick in 2019, Gallimore was never able to establish himself as a starter. That says a lot given the lack of impact Dallas has got from its defensive tackles. In four seasons, he managed 4.0 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, nine quarterback hits and 38 pressures.
Assuming the Cowboys bring back Johnathan Hankins and draft another NT, Gallimore won't be missed next campaign, especially since the versatile Chauncey Golston is under contract.
