2. RB Rico Dowdle

Raise your hand if you predicted that Rico Dowdle would be the Cowboys' de facto starting running back two weeks before the draft. Even if Ezekiel Elliott gets re-signed or Dallas signs Dalvin Cook before April 27, both players would be in danger of losing their starting jobs as soon as they got them.

It's widely expected that the Cowboys will come away with a RB early in the draft. Texas product Jonathon Brooks is being heavily mocked to Dallas. Both Mel Kiper Jr. and Field Yates of ESPN projected Brooks to the Cowboys in the second round in their last mocks.

That feels like the most likely outcome. If another team drafts Brooks before Dallas, don't rule out Florida State's Trey Benson or Tennessee's Jaylen Wright in round two or three. Those are the most popular names, but Braelon Allen (Wisconsin), Bucky Irving (Oregon), and Rasheen Ali (Marshall), among others, all have been at The Star for 30 visits.

Dowdle exceeded expectations as RB2 last season, but his days as the Cowboys' starting running back will be short-lived.
