The Dallas Cowboys have a total of seven picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, but only three of them reside in the top 100. Furthermore, they have to wait 100 picks between their first and fourth selections. They have the No. 87 pick in round three and don't pick again until No. 187 in the fifth round.

That shouldn't stop the Cowboys from working the phones during the draft. Jerry Jones should be open for business both in terms of trading back and shopping for expendable players. Every draft, teams shop players whom they don't intend on paying. Sometimes it's a matter of a rebuilding club wanting more draft picks or a relationship running its course.

With that in mind, let's delve into some potential trade opportunities the Cowboys should consider during the draft ... and one they should stay far, far away from.

4. Cowboys should trade for Rashod Bateman

A first-round pick by the Ravens in 2021, Rashod Bateman has been a major disappointment to start his career. He's been slowed by injuries, but he was finally healthy in 2023 and managed just 32 catches for 367 yards and one touchdown. He was out-snapped by vets Odell Beckham Jr. and Nelson Agholor and finished with less production than second-string tight end Isaiah Likely.

The Ravens aren't flush with depth at WR, but Bateman and Lamar Jackson haven't boasted much chemistry. It's possible that Bateman is shopped before the NFL Draft. If that happens, Dallas should be interested.

Why? Well, Bateman's trade value is at rock-bottom. It stands to reason he'd only cost a seventh-round pick. Answer this, Cowboys fans: Would you rather Dallas keep one of its two seventh-round picks this year or use one to trade for a former first-round receiver?

A change of scenery could do wonders for Bateman, who doesn't turn 25 until November. From a Cowboys' perspective, Bateman would give them another body to compete with Jalen Tolbert and Jalen Brooks for the WR3/4 spots behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks.

This team needs another WR and they're not in a position to draft one early.
