As the Cowboys are set to leave for training camp later this month, the team will field different questions regarding different areas of the roster. One position group that may be asked about the most will be the tight-end unit

Only a little questioning was needed in years past, as the Cowboys have had surefire starters for many years at the position. Names like "Iron" Mike Ditka, security blanket in Jay Novacek, future Hall of Famer Jason Witten, and even the last two seasons with Dalton Schultz.

Now in 2023, a new face will assume the starting position, but even going past the topic of who starts, the team will have to answer multiple questions on how the group will shape up for the 2023 season. Let’s examine the three important questions for the Cowboys' tight end group.

3. Who is UDFA Princeton Fant and should fans be excited about him?

At 24 years old and coming out of the University of Tennessee. Princeton Fant went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft. While the tight end room is crowded going into camp. There are spots to be earned on the active roster and practice squad.

Who is the former Vol, and what does he bring? Fant spent six seasons with the Volunteers (2017-2022). He appeared in 33 games and totaled 52 receptions for 579 yards and five touchdowns.

Fant's versatility was on display in his final season, accounting for nine total scores. Three receiving, five rushing, and one passing. All while helping lead the Vols to an 11-2 record and a number six finish in the nation.

While making a 53-man roster is a challenge for UDFA, the Cowboys see something in Fant and the skill set that is good enough to give him a chance at making the team.
