3. CB Gareon Conley

The Cowboys are continuing their experiment of bringing in players from other leagues with the signings of Gareon Conley and Willie Harvey Jr. The team also worked out other players from the UFL, but Dallas so far has not signed any of them. Out of the two new arrivals, Conley might have the shortest stay during training camp.

Conley was a first round pick by the then Oakland Raiders in 2017. Coming out of Ohio State, Conley looked like a sure bet but has quickly fizzled out. He did not start a game his rookie year, but bounced back in 2018 with three interceptions, one going for a touchdown. In 2019, Conley's career took a bad turn.

He suffered a neck injury early in the season then was traded to the Texans for a third round pick. He helped the team make the playoffs, but Houston decided not to give him a new contract. After being placed on injured reserve in September 2020, Conley was suddenly out of the NFL.

After a few years out of football the former Buckeye played last season for the DC Defenders. The Cowboys are hoping they have found their next Brandon Aubrey but Conley will have a tougher road to make this roster. The Cowboys are loaded with talented corners and also drafted another.

Conley might have been a name teams were talking about a few years ago, but now he is an afterthought. Most might see Conley simply as a "camp body". The NFL starts with 90 players in camp and Conley has to be somewhere near the bottom of that list. Jerry loves giving second chances, but Conley's career might be over if he does not impress the coaches in Dallas.
