Before the 2023 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys made sure to set themselves up with a roster they felt good about. They added Brandin Cooks and Stephon Gilmore through trade while also re-signing several key in-house free agents, but there were still some holes they needed to address.

A couple of those were filled during the weekend, including defensive tackle in Round 1 and tight end in Round 2. However, there are still positions that could use more depth before the Cowboys head to training camp. In order to find that depth, they'll have to turn to the open market to find that — and these three players should be high on their list.

Cowboys FA Target No. 3: Dalton Risner, Guard

Dallas lost Connor McGovern in free agency and if their plan to keep Tyler Smith at left tackle holds true, they need to find someone to replace him. So far, the primary options are Matt Farinok and Asim Richards — who was the lone offensive lineman they drafted this weekend.

But if Dallas really wants to contend in 2023, they can't go into the season with a career backup and a late day three pick as their primary options. That's why they should kick the tires on Dalton Risner.

A former second-round pick from Kansas State, Risner never lived up to expectations but he still started 62 games in four seasons for the Denver Broncos. Adding him would give them a better camp battle and if he winds up losing out to one of the others, they'll at least have some experienced depth.
