3 draft picks Cowboys got right and 2 they will regret

Cowboys pick they will regret: Eric Scott, Jr., CB, Southern Miss
When the Cowboys took Asim Richards in the fifth round, there was apparently some debate since some in the war room wanted Southern Miss cornerback Eric Scott, Jr. They believed in him so much, they then used a 2024 fifth-round pick to trade for Scott.
That trade was met with exasperation since they were giving up future assets for a late-round pick, which they then used on a player who wasn't predicted to be drafted. That was one of the contentions Ben Grimaldi of Cowboys Wire had with the selection, and he also pointed out that there's no way he sees the field anytime soon on this depth chart.
"Dallas really wanted Scott, trading a 2024 5th-round pick to select the cornerback. The question many had when his name was called was 'why?' Scott did have five career interceptions, but he wasn’t expected to go as high as where the Cowboys drafted him."

The fact that Dallas then drafted Deuce Vaughn alleviated a lot of the frustration but then it's a wonder why they risked allowing Vaughn (who plays a position of greater need) to fall to someone else in favor of a cornerback that likely would have been there later.
Perhaps Dan Quinn will work his magic as he did with DaRon Bland but this one felt like a stretch.
