2. Zach Charbonnet, RB, UCLA

The best two running backs from the draft both went in the top 12 of the first round as Bijan Robinson went to the Falcons and Jahmyr Gibbs went to the Lions. Both players were rumored to be taken by the Cowboys at some point or another, but neither fell anywhere close to Dallas having a chance to take them.

Zach Charbonnet would be the perfect alternative to Robinson and Gibbs and even has the chance to fall to the Cowboys' third-round pick.

Charbonnet has immediate three-down back potential and would be an outstanding fit next to Tony Pollard in the backfield. He rushed for 1,359 yards on 7.0 yards per carry and 14 touchdowns last season at UCLA. He had similar NFL Combine results as former Cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott and would be an immaculate replacement for him. He runs hard just like Zeke and specializes in inside run plays.

This pick would also give the Cowboys insurance if Pollard struggles to return to peak performance or if Dallas decides to not re-sign him next offseason.

Charbonnet is a violent downhill runner that rarely goes down at first contact. Having a one-two punch with Pollard and Charbonnet would be a match made in heaven and Dallas should heavily consider bringing him in if he's available in the third round.
