2. Luke Schoonmaker, TE

Injuries are unfortunate, but they can absolutely cost a rookie a few spots on the depth chart. That's exactly the case with Schoonmaker.

The No. 58 overall pick in the 2023 draft, Scoonmaker missed most of the offseason program with a foot injury. He said he hopes to return to practice in a week or two, but he's nursing a partial tear of the plantar fascia, which is known to be more challening to recover from than a complete tear.

At the end of the day, Schoonmaker is missing valuable practice time. He's been running phantom drills on the sideline to keep up with the rest of the TE room, but those obviously pale in comparison to the real thing.

Schoonmaker was expected to battle Jake Ferguson for the starting job. Now, all the first-team reps are going to Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot, so it's not crazy to say that the Michigan product is currently third in the TE pecking order.

In other words, it's time to temper expectations for Schoonmaker's rookie year.
