3. Brandon Aubrey is perfect in Cowboys debut

One of the biggest storylines dating back to the 2022 playoffs was what the Cowboys were going to do at kicker after Brett Maher's historically atrocious postseason performance. Apparently, their solution was to completely wipe the slate clean.

They actually did hold a kicker competition with Tristan Vizcaino, so I guess the slate wasn't entirely clean, but they then added an intriguing option into the mix in USFL standout Brandon Aubrey.

Aubrey converted 14-of-15 field goal attempts last year for the Birmingham Stallions, among the best rates in the league. He was also perfect on PAT's, hitting all 35 of them. While many fans were hoping for a proven veteran option, it was refreshing to see Dallas dip into the other professional league pool of players once again after bringing in former USFL MVP KaVontae Turpin last year.

Throughout training camp, it seemed pretty clear Aubrey was going to win the job. Although he had some early struggles, he settled in and performed decent in his opportunities in the preseason, converting 2-of-3 field goal attempts and 6-of-7 PAT attempts in three games.

Now in his first career NFL game, he has a chance to make a splash and prove why the team decided to roll with him as their new placekicker. Aubrey showed consistency last year in the USFL and could make a statement by going perfect in game one.
