It's certainly no secret that the Dallas Cowboys had one of the worst defenses in the NFL in 2025, allowing the third-most total yards per game (377.0), the most passing yards per game (251.5), and the most points per game (30.1).
So, when Matt Eberflus was fired, and Jerry Jones actually took the time and effort to stage an extensive search for his replacement, ultimately landing on 34-year-old Christian Parker, it's safe to say that every fan of America's Team was thrilled with the change.
But from an overall standpoint, things haven't gotten much better. Heading into their Week 6 matchup with the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys have allowed the second-most total yards per game (395.4) and the eighth-most points per contest (27.2).
So, it's certainly not surprising to see America's Team at 2-3, and that second win didn't come easy, as Dak Prescott had to lead a late touchdown drive to down the Houston Texans, who just picked up their first win of the year on Sunday over the winless Tennessee Titans, by the way. If only the Cowboys knew how to beat a winless team in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but that's not the point here.
Now, the pass defense has been a bit better, as America's Team has allowed 227.0 yards per game in that department. But that still only ranks 20th in the league. And over the last two weeks, Parker's unit has allowed an average of 256.5 passing yards, which would rank 29th.
So, things are obviously going in the wrong direction, and after watching what Packers quarterback Jordan Love did to the Chicago Bears on Sunday, the Dallas defense should be absolutely terrified for Sunday night's matchup at Lambeau Field, as the fourth-year starter had one of the best overall games of his career.
Packers QB Jordan Love had a phenomenal performance vs. the Bears, and has torched the Cowboys in the past
Through the first three weeks of the season, Love was throwing for yardage, averaging 281.3 yards per game, but his accuracy was off, as he connected on just 52.4 percent of his passes in Green Bay's 1-2 start.
But in a Week 4 win over the Bucs (yep, the Packers got that done like they were supposed to), while the 27-year-old only threw for 197 yards, he completed 73.3 percent of his throws, connecting on 22 of 30 targets.
And on Sunday, he put everything together in a dominant 31-7 victory over the rival Bears, hitting on 25 of 31 passes for a season-high 80.7 percent, which marks the second-highest clip of his career, while throwing for 367 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
As such, Love earned a 137.5 passer rating, representing the best mark of his entire career, at least in the regular season, that is.
And that leads us right into our next point, that being that Love has absolutely torched the Cowboys the two times he's seen them as the Packers' starter.
His first start against Dallas, of course, came in the Wild Card Round of the 2023 postseason, and it was in that game that he earned the actual highest passer rating of his career, earning a near-perfect 157.2 mark after completing 76.2 percent of his passes for 272 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions to lead Green Bay to a 48-32 upset victory.
And in last year's wild Week 4 matchup in Dallas, which resulted in a 40-40 tie, he completed 72.1 percent of his throws for 337 yards, again going for three touchdowns with no picks to earn a 118.1 passer rating.
So, Love certainly enjoys seeing stars on the sides of opposing helmets. And given what he just did to the Bears and the Dallas defense once again floundering, the Cowboys could be in big trouble come Sunday night.
