Given how torturous last offseason was, the Dallas Cowboys deserve a standing ovation for how they've attacked the 2025 sweepstakes.
While they haven't added any marquee players, they've been active here and there, some might say "selectively aggressive," as far as improving their depth. The front office was completely dormant this time last year, so even the smallest of moves have served as a breath of fresh air.
With that said, it would not be surprising if the Cowboys were done adding to their roster until the NFL Draft, which is quietly just five weeks away. That would be pretty careless given how much work the roster needs, but nothing says they can't revisit the free-agent market after the draft.
You can make an argument that cornerback, wide receiver and edge rusher should all be in the conversation for the No. 12 overall pick.
Selecting the best player available at either position might be the way to go, but NFL Network draft analyst Chad Reuter has a better idea, as he revealed in his latest four-round mock.
Cowboys execute perfect trade-back, select dynamic RB in latest mock draft
Reuter has the Cowboys moving down to pick No. 20 in a trade with the Broncos and selecting Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.
Egbuka played mostly in the slot with the Buckeyes, but the logged over 200 snaps out wide in his college career, per PFF. He's been overshadowed by some incredible WR talents at Ohio state, but he produced over 1,000 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in both 2022 and 2024.
Egbuka is one of the toughest players in the class regardless of position and loves to get his nose dirty as a run-blocker. Drafting him will picking up an extra day two pick in the process would be a dream.
But it gets better.
Reuter mocked Egbuka's Buckeyes teammate, running back TreVeyon Henderson, to the Cowboys with the 44th pick. While Henderson might not be an immediate three-down back, he's a home-run hitter and ranked in the 95th percentile in yards after contact per carry in 2024.

Henderson led the Big Ten in yards per carry as a true freshman in 2021 and then again as a senior. He'd bring the explosive element the Cowboys have been missing in their backfield since prime Ezekiel Elliott, though he is more elusive and faster outside the tackles than Zeke.
The Cowboys picked up the No. 51 pick in their trade with Denver. Reuter plugged another huge hole in the form of Texas nose tackle Alfred Collins.
The former Longhorn would be the perfect running mate next to Osa Odighizuwa. Standing at 6-5 and 320 pounds, Collins reads and steamrolls blocks with the best NTs in the class. He can absorb double teams to create pass-rushing lanes for teammates and is utterly dominant against the run, as evidenced by his 85.0 PFF run-defense grade and 7.4% run-stop percentage last season.
Like running back, this is a deep defensive tackle class. The Cowboys need to pick one up in rounds 3-5. Getting Collins in round two after drafting WR2 in Egbuka and arguably the most explosive RB in the class would have this roster primed to compete this season.
