Jerry Jones can be criticized for a lot of things as it pertains to putting the Dallas Cowboys in the best position to compete for a Super Bowl. What can't be argued, though, is that he is a marketing genius and one of the top businessman in the world.
That is why Jones is accused of caring more about generating revenue and ensuring the Cowboys are in the spotlight than winning. The team's inactivity in free agency year in and year out certainly supports that.
That makes the Cowboys a no-brainer pick to feature on HBO and NFL Films' Hard Knocks, which documents a team's training camp and preparation for the upcoming season. Unfortunately for Jones, the annual series cover the Buffalo Bills this year, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
It's not all bad for Jones, though, as the NFC East was selected to feature on the second ever Hard Knocks: In Season that follows an entire division. The first episode is set to air in December.
Cowboys to feature on Hard Knocks: In Season in 2025
There is something to be said about the Cowboys' season being documented. Jones will take any and all coverage of his beloved team. However, the original Hard Knocks is the bigger attraction and it's not all that close. The Bills are huge winners in that regard.
Not to mention, Dallas will have to split air time with the reigning champion Eagles, the darling Commanders and the Giants, who are a lousy team but have a head coach and general manager on the hot seat. It might be for the wrong reasons, but New York is interesting.
MUST-READ: Cowboys waste no time undoing Mike McCarthy's biggest OTA blunder
Last year, Hard Knocks: In season covered the AFC North: the Ravens, Bengals Browns and Steelers. Does ... does anyone recall watching that? The Bengals had enough contract drama to move mountains last season and yet it is hard to recall a single memory of the documentary.
According to Cowboys staff writer Tommy Yarrish, this will mark Dallas' first Hard Knocks appearance since 2008.
Fortunately for Jones, he has his own documentary coming out this year. Netflix is set to release a 10-part doc titled "America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys" centered around the team's transformation under Jones, specifically its dynastic run in the 1990s.
Jones will get his moment in the spotlight - and then some - but you just know the 82-year-old is peeved the Cowboys were snubbed in favor of the Bills.
