Locking up George Pickens should be priority No. 1 in Dallas this offseason, but it goes without saying that upgrading the defensive personnel is a non-negotiable. On paper, pass rusher and cornerback are the biggest needs, but linebacker isn't far behind.

Ironically enough, Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles is the prospect most frequently to the Dallas Cowboys at No. 12 overall. But even if Styles ends up with a star on his helmet, that shouldn't close the book on improving the linebacker room.

The 2026 free agency class actually offers some intriguing options. Lavonte David, Demario Davis, and Bobby Wagner headline the group, but momentum may quietly be building for the Cowboys to lure Quincy Williams, brother of Pro Bowl defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, to Dallas.

According to The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt, Williams told teammates towards the end of last season, "that he was preparing as if these were his final games with the Jets."

Not only that, but according to CeeDee Lamb's Instagram, he and Williams were hanging out after the Super Bowl.

The Dallas Cowboys are well-positioned to strike for Quincy Williams in free agency

To recap: Williams basically confirmed to teammates that he isn't coming back to the Jets, he's already hanging out with Lamb, and he's the brother of one of the Cowboys' best players.

It’s not exactly headline-worthy when two NFL players hang out, but that’s the reality of free agency season. Fan bases will overreact the second a star is spotted with a potential target, and Quincy became an obvious Cowboys tie-in the second Dallas traded for his younger brother.

Quinnen Williams is the team's true ace in the hole, but don't think for a second that Lamb wasn't doing some recruiting following his legendary media run during Super Bowl week.

The superstar receiver spent the week negotiating on George Pickens' behalf, culminating in him saying that he doesn't care if Dallas gave Pickens a bigger contract than him.

Williams is admittedly coming off a down year, but that can be attributed to the fact that he didn't get along with the Jets' coaching staff. He was a first-team All-Pro in 2023 and followed that by leading all linebackers with 41 defensive stops and ranking 10th with a 74.3 run-defense grade in 2024, per Pro Football Focus.

A linebacker room of DeMarvion Overshown, Quincy Williams, and Sonny Styles would be the Cowboys' best in a long time. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Signing Williams would be a great start, and momentum is quietly building for Jerry Jones to strike once the legal tampering period opens.
