The Dallas Cowboys had an underwhelming season in 2025, finishing the year with a 7-9 record. That’s why the team has been hard at work this offseason, hoping to build a roster that’s ready to return to contender status. After some coaching changes, free agency additions, and the 2026 Draft, some people believe Dallas had a successful offseason.
One person who has already identified as a believer is Kay Adams. The NFL media member, on a recent episode of her show Up & Adams, was very complimentary of the Cowboys’ moves this offseason. Adams explained that everything is good in Dallas right now because the team has exciting rookies and no drama.
With all of the talent that the team has returning, Adams believes that the franchise is set up to significantly improve in 2026.
No contract drama, exciting rookies...

Kay Adams expects the Dallas Cowboys to be much-improved in 2026
Adams started her spiel by talking about Dallas’ top draft pick Caleb Downs, and all the excitement he’s bringing to the franchise. However, she quickly pivoted to George Pickens signing the franchise tag, and seemingly resolving any dramatic contract situation that could have dragged on late into training camp.
Now, with all signs pointing to a motivated Pickens just playing on the tag, Adams believes the Cowboys will once again get the best version of the receiver, and team will also produce the best version of itself since it isn’t dealing with any loud contract drama like the franchise usually is.
The combination of the lack of drama and exciting rookies resulted in Adams saying she’s in on the Cowboys. She acknowledged that this is probably the first time she’s ever made a statement like that about Dallas in her career, specifically at this part of the offseason.
While there’s a running joke in sports that it’s always the Cowboys’ year until it’s not, Adams is confident the team can establish itself as a contender in 2026.
Ultimately, time will tell if Kay Adams is right. Time will also tell if Dallas can remain drama-free. While it seems like the franchise has everything buttoned up right now, especially with Pickens, everyone knows that the Cowboys have a flair for the dramatics. In other words, there’s still a lot of time for Dallas to make Adams reverse course, but for now, she’s a believer.
