In the last month, the Dallas Cowboys have quietly risen from the ashes of a failed season to become one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL. That is, they've done it as quietly as a team with the media presence of the Cowboys can.
With a real chance to steal the NFC East title from the Philadelphia Eagles in the final stretch of the regular season, the national media is starting to take notice of the hot streak Dallas is on.
FOX Sports analyst Julian Edelman is fully on board with the Cowboys' resurgence, even comparing Dallas to the New York Giants teams that his New England Patriots had so much trouble with.
Cowboys receive high praise from Julian Edelman after late-season resurgence
The Cowboys have already completed their Week 13 stretch with a Thanksgiving victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, but they were still the focus of conversations over the weekend. Speaking on FOX NFL Sunday, Edelman broke down exactly why Dallas has become so dangerous.
He said, "They have a team that can compete. They have a completely different defense than they started the year with. Overshown, sideline to sideline, is terrifying. Logan Wilson is creating a role. Quinnen Williams is stopping the run. On offense, CeeDee Lamb and Pickens, they're a problem."
He even went on to give the Cowboys a lofty comparison to the Giants teams that won two Super Bowls against him over a decade ago. He said, "They look like a team that's trending up, and they give me a little reminder. They remind me of those old Giants teams that would get hot in the back of the season and do damage in the playoffs."
Whether the Cowboys should be compared to a Super Bowl team at this point in the season is certainly up for debate, but one thing is clear: This team has been transformed since the beginning of the year. The defense, like Edelman pointed out, is playing its best ball since the Micah Parsons trade, and the offense is simply too loaded with weapons to be stopped.
The Cowboys still need to continue their hot streak to even make the postseason, let alone make a deep run. They may need to win out to claim the division title. But, if they can find their way into the playoffs, the rest of the league should be terrified by their recent form.
