It's no secret that Dallas Cowboys fans often know better than team owner and de facto general manager Jerry Jones. The organization and roster would be in a much better place if Jones simply took fans' advice, which speaks to how many poor decisions Jones has made over the years.
Between prolonging extension talks with star players, jumping the gun on extensions for injured players (Michael Gallup, Jaylon Smith, Terence Steele, etc.) and refusing to spend money in free agency despite being the world's most valuable sports franchise, there is a paper trail of evidence that supports fans and the national media's claim that winning isn't Jones' foremost priority.
If there is one thing Jones does well, though, it's build close relationships with his players. He undoubtedly mettles too much in roster decisions, but he cares about his players.
That's (partly) why it raised eyebrows when Jones rebuffed DeMarvion Overshown's request to wear the No. 0 jersey last season. The number belongs to Rowdy, the team's mascot. Ever stuck in his ways, Jones did not want to strip Rowdy of his longtime uniform number.
Well, according to a new report from Clarence Hill Jr. of All City DLLS, it sounds like Jones has finally come around.
Agent 0 is returning. Stay tuned
— Clarence Hill Jr (@clarencehilljr) April 8, 2025
It ain’t about Rowdy anymore.
Hookem
It sounds like Jerry Jones will allow Cowboys star DeMarvion Overshown to wear No. 0
Agent 0 is back!
While Hill didn't mention who it is, anyone who follows the team knows zero will be Overshown's new number. Overshown initially donned No. 13 at Texas before making the switch to No. 0. He adopted the "Agent 0" moniker and you can find him on Twitter (or X) at "@AGENT0__".
"As soon as they made the rule that NFL players can wear zero I was like, the first Dallas Cowboy to wear zero like it’s just meant to be, coming from Texas wearing No. 0 you know this it’s just meant to be and sadly you know it didn’t happen, like that," Overshown said in September about wanting to wear No. 0. "That’s Rowdy number and you know I guess me and Rowdy going to have to duke it out but nah, Rowdy my guy and so I think Mr. Jones is going to hold on to that to that number for a while."

Maybe Jones needed to see Overshown prove himself on the field before stripping Rowdy of his longtime jersey number. That is totally asinine. Again, Rowdy is the team mascot and Overshown is a cornerstone of the defense.
To Overshown's credit, he sent a loud statement to Jones with his play. The 2023 third-round pick was on a Pro Bowl (dare we say All-Pro) trajectory before his season-ending knee injury.
Despite playing just 13 games, Overshown finished second on the team with 90 combined tackles and eight tackles for loss. Only Micah Parsons and Chauncey Golston posted more sacks than Overshown and his 78.9 pass-rush grade ranked seventh among all linebackers, per PFF.
Overshown did all of that despite missing the final month of the season. Needless to say he made Jones eat crow.
It's happening a year after it should have, but Cowboys fans (seemingly) will finally get to watch Agent 0 in action once Overshown is cleared to return from his knee injury.
