It only took Cowboys' Brock Hoffman three plays to start a fight vs. Giants

The Dallas Cowboys got the ball first on Thanksgiving after the New York Giants won the toss and deferred to the second half.

Cooper Rush marched the offense down the field, but the drive stalled out deep in the red zone and Dallas settled for a short Brandon Aubrey field goal.

The most encouraging part of the drive? The Cowboys finally got KaVontae Turpin involved. The speedy receiver caught two passes for 22 yards, including a long of 16. Rush even looked his way in the end zone but the throw was a little long.

Perhaps the least surprising part of the drive is that Brock Hoffman, making his second straight start at right guard for the injured Zack Martin, was quickly involved in a skirmish. The FOX broadcast showed a couple of Cowboys and Giants jawing back and forth on a 3rd-and-5.

It's hard to tell exactly what caused the kerfuffle, but rest assured Hoffman was right in the middle of it. Because who else would be?

Cowboys' Brock Hoffman is already picking fights against the Giants

Emotions are running high at AT&T Stadium on the national holiday.

Hoffman's energy and tenacity have endeared him to Cowboys fans. He's without question the enforcer of the offensive line, which is pretty surprising given he's a third-year undrafted free agent. He has an unteachable attitude and passion that he wears on his sleeve on every snap.

It seems that Hoffman got away with a late push on that third down. He threw his hands up before a wave of Giants defenders crowded him as if to convey his innocence. Before you knew it, Hoffman was on the ground to sell that he was, in fact, victimized.

Hoffman also in the middle of every dust-up last week. Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu punched the 25-year-old in the helmet after Hoffman refused to release his block. Did Hoffman go a little too far? Perhaps, but he finished his block before refs blew the play dead.

At some point, Hoffman's penchant for the extracurricular will backfire. The NFL will eventually learn of his reputation, but he's clearly a believer in the philosophy that it's the second guy that gets caught - not the instigator. It's gotten him this far.

In the meantime, let's hope Hoffman's competitive fight bleeds into the defense, which was ran all over by the Giants before Tyrone Tracy rushed for a one-yard touchdown to give the bad guys a 7-3 lead on Thanksgiving.
