The Dallas Cowboys are a bad football team, but it's impossible to tell the story of the 2024 season without mentioning injuries. They received more gut-wrenching news this week on that front as safety and core special teamer Markquese Bell is out for the season with a dislocated shoulder.

As far as Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders is concerned, superstar receiver CeeDee Lamb popped up on the injury report with back and foot injuries.

A back injury limited Lamb in practice last week, but he played Monday against the Houston Texans and seemingly didn't suffer any setbacks. He even handled a full workload, catching eight of 12 targets for 93 receiving yards.

Lamb got in a limited session on Wednesday, but he sounded alarms on Thursday when he was downraged to a DNP. That seemed to hint his status was in doubt, but he was back on the practice field Friday.

Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb will play in Week 12 vs. Commanders

Lamb was removed from the injury report on Friday after being listed as a full participant in the walkthrough practice. Cowboys reporters downplayed Lamb's absence on Thursday. It stands to reason that Dallas is managing the All-Pro's reps being he's dinged up.

While the Cowboys' offense wasn't humming with Dak Prescott, it has fallen off a cliff with Cooper Rush under center. Lamb's production has dipped as a result, but his catch radius and efficiency have remained elite.

Dan Quinn has the Commanders defense as a top-10 unit over the last two months, but their secondary is suspect.

That obviously won't matter if Rush plays like he has the last two games, but Lamb should be open. At the bare minimum, the attention No. 88 commands will free up Dallas' other pass-catchers - just like it did on KaVontae Turpin's long touchdown against the Texans.

It also bodes well for the Cowboys' offense that star cornerback Marshon Lattimore won't play. Lattimore hasn't practiced since Washington acquired him in a trade with the Saints before the trade deadline due to a hamstring injury.

Even though 2024 has been a down year for Lamb's standards his numbers are still amongst the league leaders. Entering Week 12, he is second with 106 targets and fourth with 73 catches and 774 receiving yards. He is also third in yards after the catch and sixth in yards per route run.

It's been tough sledding for the Cowboys this season, but they always have a chance when No. 88 is on the field.
