After nearly seven months, the Dallas Cowboys will play a competitive football game on Saturday. If that doesn't get the juices flowing, pour yourself a shot of espresso. Football is BACK, baby.

Following a joint practice with the Super Bowl favorite LA Rams, Dallas opens the preseason against the defending champion Seattle Seahawks. How's that for an introduction?

At long last, Cowboys fans will get some clarity on some heated position battles, as the backup quarterback and running back jobs are still up for grabs, among others.

On top of that, fans will also get their first look at some of Dallas' rookies. That includes first-round picks Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence, whom Brian Schottenheimer expects to get limited time vs. the Seahawks. Before you ask how you can watch the game, we've got you covered.

Cowboys vs. Seahawks game details

  • Date: Saturday, August 15
  • Location: Lumen Field (Seattle, WA)
  • Kickoff time: 6:00 pm CT

Believe it or not, the Cowboys have lost eight consecutive preseason openers. They'd love to snap that streak, but these games aren't measured in wins and losses. Evaluation is the true priority, as Brian Schottenheimer and his staff will focus on setting roles and shaping the 53-man roster.

Every snap carries massive weight for fringe roster players like Joe Milton, Sam Howell, Jaydon Blue, Phil Mafah, Camden Brown, and Anthony Smith. On defense, young prospects like Marist Liufau, Markquese Bell, and Julius Wood are battling to cement their roles before final cuts.

A lot is at stake in Seattle.
