Coming off a disappointing Week 1 loss on the road to the new-look New York Giants, the Dallas Cowboys took on an NFC East rival for the second straight week on Sunday, this time at home in the friendly confines of AT&T Stadium against former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and the Washington Commanders.
While quarterback Dak Prescott didn't deserve the blame for the loss to Big Blue, as he had a pretty solid outing outside of one costly interception, he undoubtedly deserves much of the credit for the Week 2 win over Washington, as the 11th-year veteran put on a near-perfect performance in leading the Cowboys to a 37-20 victory, one which we have zero problem giving an "A+" grade.
Avoiding an 0-2 start is crucial, of course, as only 11 percent of teams to start in such a manner since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger have gone on to make the playoffs. And for the Cowboys, there was actually a little bonus in the victory, as Dallas hadn't lost its first two games since 2010, a streak that obviously remains intact.
Only the Green Bay Packers, who moved to 1-1 themselves with a comeback victory in overtime against the New York Jets, have a longer streak, as they haven't started 0-2 since 2006.
And for Prescott, there was an added bonus in the win for him as well, as he surpassed Tony Romo to become the Cowboys' all-time leader in touchdown passes, while also tying a record held by Tom Brady.

For those who watched Sunday's contest, you certainly saw that Dak wasted little time in dicing up Dan Quinn's defense.
After KaVontae Turpin returned the opening kickoff 32 yards to the Dallas 34-yard line, Prescott promptly led the Cowboys on a 66-yard drive down the field and accounted for 64 yards on his own, completing five of six passes for 53 yards and tacking on an 11-yard scramble, with the drive ultimately resulting in him throwing a 3-yard touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb.
And Dak's day only got better from there. With just under 10 minutes remaining in the second quarter, he hooked up with tight end Jake Ferguson for a 10-yard touchdown. The two connected again for a 12-yard score with roughly six and a half minutes remaining in the third quarter, and late in the fourth quarter, Prescott found Lamb for a second score, this one going for 24 yards.
And with that fourth and final touchdown pass, Prescott upped his career regular-season total to 249, thus moving into the top spot on the all-time franchise leaderboard ahead of the aforementioned Tony Romo, who threw 248 during his 13-year run with America's Team from 2004 to 2016.
All in all, Prescott ended his day having completed 26 of 31 passes for 279 yards and those four touchdowns with zero interceptions, thus earning an impressive 143.8 passer rating.
Through the first two weeks of this 2026 campaign, his six touchdown passes have him tied with Kirk Cousins, Jared Goff, and Bryce Young, while his 117.1 passer rating is good for fifth, trailing only Drew Lock (127.3), Jaxson Dart (125.9), Josh Allen (125.8), and Brock Purdy (125.6).
Furthermore, with the win over Washington, Prescott now has 20 consecutive victories over NFC East opponents, thus tying Tom Brady for the longest such streak since the 1970 merger, as TB12 won 20 straight against AFC East opponents in Foxborough from 2007 to 2014 while with the New England Patriots.
Dak will get his shot to break Brady's record in Week 12 when America's Team hosts the Philadelphia Eagles on Thanksgiving Day.
In the more immediate future, Prescott will look to continue his hot streak this Sunday when the Cowboys travel to Brazil to face Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.
