The Dallas Cowboys will have their work cut out to dethrone the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East.
If the Eagles were to miraculously take a step back, Dallas would have to worry about the Washington Commanders, who have been highly aggressive this offseason as they look to capitalize on their window with a stud quarterback on a rookie contract.
Regardless of how the division shakes out between the top three teams, it seems like a surefire bet that the NY Giants will bring up the rear.
While the Giants have made a few eye-catching signings in free agency, they are expected to be among the league's worst teams yet again. They own the No. 3 pick, but in a poor quarterback class it is no surprise they've been on the hunt for a stopgap veteran.
The G-Men swung and missed on Matthew Stafford initially and they've all but pulled out of the tiresome Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes when they signed Jameis Winston (!) to a two-year contract over the weekend.
Giants signing QB Jameis Winston is comedy gold for Cowboys fans
The Giants might be fun with Winston under center, but this move all but guarantees the Cowboys two wins next season. Dallas has won eight consecutive games over New York, including 13 of the last 14 meetings. Eight of those 13 wins came by a margin of at least 14 points.
It has been a one-sided rivalry the moment Dak Prescott entered the league. The front office has asked Prescott to carry the team in recent years, but that has not bucked the trend. Even in games that Dallas has had no business beating NY, they've managed to come out victorious.
It must be said that Winston will make the Giants fun. He has an infectious personality and he's the most talented quarterback they've had since Eli Manning. The former No. 1 overall pick breathed life into a previously-anemic Browns offense after he replaced Deshaun Watson last year.

Winston's rocket right arm and gunslinger style of play will help keep second-year receiver Malik Nabers happy. It may even help New York win a few more games.
The problem with Winston is he's incredibly careless with the football. He owns a lofty 3.5% interception rate in 105 games (87 starts) and 111 total interceptions. He only played 12 games last season and still had the sixth-most turnover worthy plays among QBs, per PFF.
As much as the Browns benefitted from Winston stepping in for Watson, he still threw 13 touchdowns to 12 INTs. That ratio is not conducive to winning.
As long as Prescott is healthy and the Cowboys plug the remaining holes on the roster, they are primed to pick up two more wins over the Giants in 2025.
