If you aren't watching the Dallas Cowboys Draft Show, you're missing out. It has a live shot of the team's war room, which started clapping and celebrating as defensive coordinator Christian Parker and linebackers coach Scott Symons entered the room roughly 30 minutes ago.

It turns out, they were celebrating a trade.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys have sent a fifth-round pick (No. 152 overall) to the San Francisco 49ers for fourth-year linebacker Dee Winters.

This is exactly the move Dallas needed: an experienced started with a high floor to pair with a potential rookie and DeMarvion Overshown.

A sixth-round pick in 2023, Winters started 27 games the last two years for San Francisco, including all 17 just last season.

While not a world-beater, he's another gem the 49ers have found on Day 3 of the draft. He's rangy and stepped up in a big way when All-Pro Fred Warner went down with a gruesome ankle injury early in the 2025 season, racking up 67 solo tackles, 43 defensive stops, and a 62.6 run-defense grade, per Pro Football Focus.

Before this trade, Dallas had 2025 fifth-round pick Shemar James and 2025 undrafted free agent Justin Barron as the primary backups behind Overshown. Marist Liufau is converting to a pass rusher under Parker, so he's no longer an option. Winters raises the floor of the room.

This marks the second trade these longtime NFC rivals have made in as many months. In March, the Cowboys sent defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa to the Bay Area for a third-round pick (No. 92 overall), which they could use in a matter of hours, potentially on a linebacker to solidify the room.
