Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current CBS NFL commentator Tony Romo was arrested in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating while under the influence, per FOX6 and the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.
Romo was reportedly driving on I-43 on Thursday, July 23. Romo was stopped and reportedly performed poorly in field sobriety tests. It remains unclear whether Romo submitted to a breathalyzer or if he declined. Romo is reportedly due in court on September 21.
Romo is unlikely to face any sort of jail sentence for this due to Wisconsin law. In Wisconsin, a first-offense OWI is generally a civil offense that carries no criminal penalty. The citation usually earns fines between $150 and $300. No matter what happens, this appears to be a very bad look for the Cowboys great.

Romo, who has no prior criminal history before this arrest, is at or near the top of the Cowboys' passing record book in just about every category that matters. His climb from the ranks of the undrafted free agent miasma to establish himself as one of the most important figures in Cowboys history remains historic and improbable.
The former undrafted free agent who grew up in the Milwaukee area went 78-49 as a starter while throwing for over 34,000 yards and 248 touchdowns. Since retiring and passing the torch to Dak Prescott, Romo has found new life as CBS' No. 1 broadcast analyst while being paired with Jim Nantz.
Romo is in the middle of a 10-year, $180 million contract that will keep him with the network until 2030 and makes him the highest-paid live broadcast analyst across any of the major networks. Romo's new contract came amid some criticism on social media regarding a preceived dip in quality in his performances.
Romo will likely pay a fine if he is convicted of this charge, which is still not what CBS or Cowboys fans want to see.
