The trade deadline clock is starting to tick down, and Dallas Cowboys fans want Jerry Jones to make a move to fix by far the worst defense in the NFL.

While the Cowboys have been linked to All-Pro pass rushers Trey Hendrickson and Maxx Crosby, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported that the Cowboys got rebuffed in both cases. A blockbuster trade for a pass rusher and a linebacker could put the Cowboys in serious Super Bowl contention, with their offense leading the charge as arguably the best in football.

Appearing on All-City DLLS, Cowboys' wide receiver Jesse Holley predicted fans' biggest fear that Jerry Jones won't add assets to fix this defense, but only because the defense is that bad.

Jesse Holley predicts the Cowboys will roll with what they have on defense now

"If you fire (Eberflus), you fire him. But adding assets to an already sinking ship, I think will hurt you even more in the future. Maxx Crosby ain't helping this. Trey Hendrickson ain't helping this. This is cooked. "
Jesse Holley

Holley is right when he says that the Cowboys are cooked, no matter who's coaching this defense. A trade for one guy may only do so much, but the Cowboys' offense is so great that maybe it only takes a Crosby or a Hendrickson to at least build some momentum to sneak into the playoffs.

They can't waste this opportunity. Even a 23rd-ranked defense with the best offense in the league can do wonders. The Cowboys' offensive line is looking young and bright. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens might be the best WR duo in football, and Javonte Williams is playing his best football in three years.

There are a plethora of college football players that the Cowboys can choose from in the 2026 NFL Draft. Ohio State safety Caleb Downs or Texas Tech pass rusher David Bailey might be guys the Cowboys could really use.

But the Cowboys need answers now. This isn't a team rebuilding from the ground up. Dak Prescott is playing at an elite level with limited time left in his prime. If anything, the fans are calling for Jerry Jones to make a move for the sake of helping out Prescott.

Worst of all, Jones made his stance crystal clear on Matt Eberflus after Panthers' RB Rico Dowdle ran circles around the Cowboys' defense in Week 6. Jones is the type to give a coach a full season to prove himself before firing anybody, but the fans have seen enough.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result. Results are needed now, and if nothing happens before the deadline, Cowboys fans will understandably be irate.
