The Dallas Cowboys are sleep-walking through free agency, but they woke up some on Wednesday when they signed linebacker Jack Sanborn and traded for a pair for former first-round picks in cornerback Kaiir Elam and linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr.
While Sanborn is a terrific addition for Matt Eberflus, it would be nice to see the front office go after more impactful players in the trade market.
Until proven otherwise, Elam and Murray should be regarded as depth pieces, though Murray could step into a big role right away if he impresses in OTAs and training camp. Hopefully Dallas will have added more competition by then.
In the meantime, the free-agent frenzy has slowed down after a frenetic start. As far as Cowboys free agents are concerned, DeMarcus Lawrence (Seahawks) and Rico Dowdle (Panthers) joined Jourdan Lewis and Chauncey Golston in finding new homes.
The market has not been as generous to former Dallas players. However, a former day two draft pick has landed in an ideal spot to resurrect his career.
Former Cowboys DT Neville Gallimore signs one-year deal with the Colts
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting former Cowboy Neville Gallimore has inked a one-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts.
A third-round pick out of Oklahoma, Gallimore flashed as a rookie but his sophomore year got derailed by a dislocated elbow. He played just five games that year and his snap totals decreased over the next two seasons as he was leapfrogged on the depth chart by Osa Odighizuwa, who has since signed a $80 million extension with the franchise.

The Colts are a nice landing spot for Gallimore, who played unquestionably the best football of his career down the stretch of last season and into the playoffs with the Rams.
After not recording a single sack in 14 regular season games, Gallimore logged 2.5 sacks in the playoffs. In two games, the former Sooner compiled six tackles, three quarterback hits, two tackles for loss and a safety of Jalen Hurts in the Divisional Round.
The problem with Gallimore has been stringing together positive games. A consistent role would definitely help and he may find that with Indianapolis after they let rotational DTs Raekwon Davis and Taven Bryan leave in free agency. They needed depth in the trenches and Gallimore is a solid third option to deploy behind stars DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart.
It didn't happen for Gallimore with the Cowboys for many reasons, but he is still just 28 years old and joins a talented Colts defensive line. Maybe he can finally put it together in the midwest.
