The FIFA World Cup is set to take place in North America this year, with several games happening all across the United States. The Dallas Cowboys' home, AT&T Stadium, will host multiple games, and it looks like FIFA will make a tweak when certain games are played.

Front Office Sports revealed that FIFA will use black curtains to block out the sun for a World Cup matchup. Of course, this has been a talking point ever since AT&T Stadium opened in 2009, but owner Jerry Jones has refused to make the change for his own team.

Now, FIFA is coming in for a short time and making the switch. Meanwhile, Cowboys fans can't be happy that their owner won't make this simple fix.

FIFA will block out sun at AT&T Stadium during World Cup while Cowboys fans watch in annoyance

There have been other events at AT&T Stadium, like concerts and WrestleMania, where they've used blackout curtains, and the World Cup is the latest example. When the sun sets, it beams through the stadium and creates a blind spot on the field for players.

Back in 2024, CeeDee Lamb missed a catch on the field during a late afternoon game. After the contest, Lamb said he couldn't see the ball due to the glare of the sun. He also expressed that he would "one thousand percent” be supportive of curtains being utilized.

Instead of seriously considering the alteration, Jones shut it down.

"By the way, we know where the sun is going to be when we decide to flip the coin or not. We do know where the damn sun is going to be in our own stadium," Jones said.

Despite the plea from Lamb, it didn't matter. It's been a complaint for several years, and Jones has made it clear that he won't change it. And the only reason it's happening for the World Cup is that FIFA has control of the venue for these matches, so they can do as they please.

If it were up to Jones, he wouldn't care, which is what he's shown with his Cowboys. When fans see these changes made for other events, it has to be under their skin. The sun shining through has negatively impacted their team, and with such an easy adjustment for the problem, it's a bit odd that Jones rebuffs it.

It's not for financial reasons and comes down to his preference. Jones doesn't want to tweak it, so it won't happen. Yet, that doesn't change the fact that it's annoying that this latest update from FIFA shows that Jones refuses to make a clear change at the stadium that's needed for his football team.
