The 2024 Dallas Cowboys season looked like a disaster waiting to happen. With no true identity in the run game before it was too late, and Dak Prescott suffering a season-ending injury, the Cowboys finished 7-10 to end a tough 2024 season.
Along with no receiving depth to give CeeDee Lamb any help, opposing secondaries would be sniffing that from the opening kickoff, and Lamb would often get double teamed. Now, in a surprising turn of events, the Cowboys now have George Pickens on their side.
Regardless of how fans might still feel about that, the move is getting applause from one rival wide receiver, and it's got Eagles fans steaming.
Eagles WR A.J. Brown praises Cowboys' George Pickens trade
A.J. Brown has become one of the more unstoppable receivers in the NFL with his combination of size and speed. He recently praised the Cowboys for making the move to trade for Pickens.
"I ain’t going to lie. We’re going to have to worry about them for sure. I like the trade. I like the competition, you know," Brown said at a youth event in Delaware.
"I like the competition, and I like George Pickens, I like CeeDee Lamb and their collab, you know, and it's going to be exciting to watch because all that does is bring the best out of us,"
This is great praise coming from a defending Super Bowl champion, and with Brown being one of the best in the league, this is something that will have Eagles fans rolling their eyes. Even the slightest compliment of any Cowboy would irk the Philly faithful. That Brown was so complimentary of the Pickens trade surely has the City of Brotherly Love fuming.
With rookie Tyler Booker already having to go through one of the toughest matchups of the season facing Jalen Carter, there will be plenty of other individual matchups that will make for a blockbuster start to the 2025 season.
With Lamb and Pickens already telling us to not confuse the true No. 1 option in Dallas, these are two talented receivers that cornerbacks won't be able to double team all season long like last year. Eagles fans won't get the cakewalk that they saw last year, and it's great to hear their star wideout letting them know that the 2025 Cowboys aren't here to play around.
