On a night where the Dallas Cowboys were playing for just a little more than a win, wide receiver George Pickens stepped up to the plate once again.
Pickens has been downright fantastic in his first year with the Cowboys, and after his third 100-yard game of the season, fans can only continue to wonder -- will it be his only year with the Cowboys? One way or another, this fan base has to believe he will be back.
One former Cowboys great, Dez Bryant, took to his social media on Monday night in order to give Pickens his two cents on the matter of the coming offseason.
"George Pickens..I want you to understand that whenever it's time to negotiate your new contract..your legacy will be worth more than being the highest paid wide receiver..if you stayed with Cowboys. There's a lot more to the thought process, but think about it…."
Dez Bryant lays out more than a plan for George Pickens while playing his best Jerry Jones
Dez wants Pickens to think about his legacy; more than just his next paycheck. And, with that, he's got an idea for how Jerry Jones can compliment Pickens and the Cowboys' explosive offense in 2026.
"If I were Jerry… I would respectfully go in a different direction than DC Eberflus…" he wrote. "...not because he's a bad coach. I would offer Al Harris the DC job and let him find his defensive support. You have to be the best at what's current. I've watched great teams and been a part of great teams the Cowboys have had over the years."
There is a little irony, here, in the idea of Dallas hiring another former Bears coach in current Chicago defensive backs coach Al Harris. But, he's not wrong. Harris would likely be an upgrade over Eberflus and, in time, bring in his own style of players to go with the cornerstones this Cowboys defense already has in place.
Before ultimately ending his brief social media speech, Bryant did offer Pickens a little bit of advice and seemed to insinuate Pickens continue to show his love and hunger for the game.
"Also, you have to keep the roster young and hungry…I played with guys who were past their due date and didn't love the game..respectfully."
If anything has been clear, this season, Pickens certainly looks to be enjoying himself. His love of the game has been on full display as a Cowboy, and hopefully, it continues in Big D.
