Veteran safety P.J. Locke's arrival to the Dallas Cowboys is a homecoming and reunion all in one. The Beaumont native returns to the Lone Star State while joining back up with a couple of notable familiar faces, including linebacker DeMarvion Overshown.

Overshown and Locke were part of the University of Texas' esteemed college football program together in 2018. They wind up back together — roughly 200 miles away from the school — as members of the Cowboys. Talk about a full-circle moment.

Despite only overlapping for one year at Texas, Overshown and Locke clearly developed a long-lasting connection. The former's immediate social media reaction to the Cowboys reportedly agreeing to terms on a one-year, $5 million contract with the latter says it all.

"This so lit," Overshown wrote, followed by a fire emoji, on his Instagram story in response to Locke heading to Dallas (h/t Tommy Yarish of the Cowboys' official website).

Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarvion Overshown couldn’t hide his feelings about P.J. Locke's arrival

All Overshown needed was three words (and an icon) to make his thoughts on known. He's evidently eager to pick up where he and Locke last left off at Texas. That's a good sign for Cowboys fans who are unacquainted with the now ex-Bronco.

Of course, Locke's experience with new Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker is rightfully the biggest draw. Their intersecting stints with the Denver Broncos from 2021 to 2023 is certainly worth highlighting. However, Overshown's enthusiasm gives Dallas fans another reason for optimism.

Locke was a senior and Overshown was a freshman when they crossed paths as Longhorns. They were part of a Texas squad that defeated Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and finished ninth in the final AP Top 25 poll. With that in mind, their excitement about connecting again is easy to understand.

Cowboys Nation hopes to see Locke and Overshown replicate their success alongside each other in the NFL. Both of them will have a chance to be key pieces of a revamped Dallas stop unit that struggled mightily in all facets in 2025. Let's see if the duo can turn back the clock.

Across 16 games (three starts) with the Broncos this past season, Locke amassed 16 tackles and three pass deflections. He was relegated to backup/special teams duties in fellow defensive back Talanoa Hufanga's inaugural campaign.

Be that as it may, Overshown and the Cowboys are betting on a bounce back with a clean slate in Dallas.
