Because of Dan Quinn, the fates of the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders have been intertwined for a while now. Not only have several recycled Cowboys ended up in Washington, the Commanders have had several ex-Dallas assistant on Quinn's coaching staffs these last two years.

However, it seems like the Commanders are starting to sever the ties to some of the ex-Cowboys. In a surprise start to the offseason, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that they are releasing starting center and ex-Cowboy Tyler Biadasz in a penny-pinching decision that really doesn't make much sense for them.

The 28-year-old has started 31 games over the last two seasons, and has made 84 career starts, including 53 with Dallas, since he was drafted.

That's someone who can be a linchpin for an offensive line, yet was cut to save $2.8 million by a team that still needs to add pieces on the offensive line to protect Jayden Daniels.

The Commanders' release of former Dallas Cowboy Tyler Biadasz makes absolutely zero sense

The 2019 fourth-round pick out of Wisconsin spent the last two seasons as a starter for Washington after the Cowboys cut him, and has been pretty solid. He was penalized just three times in 2025 and allowed only three sacks, which is impressive given the quantity of the snap share that he's played.

According to Pro Football Focus, Biadasz' 70.7 PFF grade ranked 11th among all qualified centers while his 71.2 run blocking grade ranked 12th at the position, Not only is that a solid spot starter, that's a well above average starter whose presence at center can elevate the rest of an offensive line.

A reunion with Dallas may not be in the cards, but it won't take him long to find work this offseason. His football IQ makes him one of the more reliable centers in football, and thrives in zone blocking schemes, so there are aspects to his game that any team in need of interior OL help should covet.

It's wild to think that Quinn took the Commanders to the NFC Championship Game in his first season coaching them, because moves like this are not how win-now teams keep their window open. He was an elite DC with the Cowboys, yet his second stint as a head coach has confirmed he may not be head coaching material.

And frankly, his stint as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons was pretty similar, which is why he's back on the hot seat.

Daniels was hurt for most of the year because he wasn't well-protected, so moving on from one of his best linemen for cap reasons makes no sense. Biadasz will be a free agent next offseason, but Quinn and Adam Peters are making Jerry Jones look like a genius with moves like this.
