The 2026 NFL Draft is now officially a thing of the past, and the Dallas Cowboys were unquestionably one of the biggest winners of this year's festivities in Pittsburgh, where they made a total of seven selections before the event came to a close this past Saturday.
Originally slated to make the No. 12 overall pick in the opening round, Jerry Jones struck a deal with the Miami Dolphins to move up one spot to No. 11, where he selected Ohio State safety Caleb Downs, who many believe was the best overall player in this entire draft. Whether that turns out to be the case obviously remains to be seen, but the two-time unanimous All-American will undoubtedly improve a Dallas secondary that was easily one of the worst in the NFL this past year.
The Cowboys then engaged in a second trade during the first round, this time with the Philadelphia Eagles, to move back three slots from No. 20 to No. 23, where they took UCF edge rusher Malachi Lawrence, who was one of just seven FBS players to record at least 5.0 sacks in each of the last three years.
From there, Dallas picked up three more defensive players in Michigan defensive end Jaishawn Barham (Round 3, No. 92 overall), Florida cornerback Devin Moore (Round 4, No. 114 overall), and Alabama defensive end LT Overton (Round 4, No. 137 overall), while also adding a pair of offensive players in Penn State tackle Drew Shelton (Round 4, No. 112 overall) and East Carolina wide receiver Anthony Smith (Round 7, No. 218 overall).
Given the new additions, the Cowboys have seen their odds to win Super Bowl 61 get a little bit of a bump, as they've risen from +3000 to +2500 coming out of the draft.
The Dallas Cowboys are now tied for the seventh-best odds to win Super Bowl 61 among NFC teams
Not long after the Seattle Seahawks won Super Bowl 60, we took a look at the way-too-early Super Bowl 61 odds, and at that time, the Cowboys were being given +3500 odds to hoist the Lombardi Trophy next February and +1700 to represent the NFC at SoFi Stadium.
We took another look following the first wave of free agency, and Dallas' odds had improved to +3000 and +1600, respectively.
And now, as mentioned, the Cowboys' odds to win Super Bowl 61 are +2500, good for a tie for 15th among all teams, and their odds to win the NFC are +1300, good for a tie for seventh in the conference alongside the reigning NFC North champion Chicago Bears.
