The Dallas Cowboys made somewhat of a big splash earlier this week, signing future Hall of Fame edge rusher Von Miller. Jerry and Stephen Jones have promised that they would be adding to the roster before Week 1, and the signing of Miller proves they weren’t lying.
EDGE help is one of the positions that needed some attention, and the addition of Miller helps round out that room. But another spot that could use some help is cornerback, especially since Caelen Carson struggled on Saturday night.
Luckily for Dallas, there is a player who is currently on the market who would be an excellent fit in Christian Parker’s defense. And it doesn’t hurt that he already knows the scheme.
After the Miller news broke on Sunday night, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that veteran cornerback Adoree' Jackson is a name of interest for the Cowboys as they look to revamp their roster.
Adoree' Jackson would be a wise signing for the Dallas Cowboys
In addition to Von Miller, the Cowboys have explored cornerback help via free agency. One name to watch is Adoree Jackson, who was with DC Christian Parker in Philadelphia. Jackson has interest from a few teams, though. pic.twitter.com/zkoSjRcULk

Jackson visited the Cowboys earlier this offseason, but he did not sign with them. But after the struggles of the down-roster cornerbacks during camp and during the preseason, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Jackson were suddenly an option.
The Cowboys are set at the top of their depth chart at cornerback with Daron Bland, Cobie Durant, and Shavon Revel. And with Caleb Downs playing in the slot in some packages, they have four cornerbacks they feel good about going into the season. But it’s the lack of depth that is an issue.
Jackson finished the 2025 season with the Philadelphia Eagles and posted a grade of 54.6, That had him ranked as the No. 89 cornerback in the league out of 114 qualifying defenders. Obviously, that ranking is less than ideal, but it does lack a bit of context.
He started 10 games with the Eagles last season, primarily playing on the outside. And because the other cornerbacks were Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, he was often the most targeted cornerback on the field. The Cowboys attacked him early and often during their matchups and it resulted in quite a bit of success.
Jackson allowed nine receptions for 156 yards and one touchdown on 13 targets in two games against Dallas, which is obviously less than ideal. However, it’s also worth noting that he allowed just 348 yards (29 YPG) and one touchdown in the other 12 games he played.
Furthermore, Jackson was not called for a single penalty during those other 12 games, which is one trait that Parker cares very much about in his cornerbacks.
Adoree' Jackson is better than the Cowboys' down-roster CBs
If you removed Jackson's two games against Dallas, Jackson had a PFF grade of 64.6 for the remainder of the season. While that isn’t a groundbreaking grade, it is worth noting that a 60.0 grade is considered an average NFL grade.
That would be a similar grade to what Daron Bland (65.3) and Cobie Durant (65.2) posted last season.
The Cowboys are uniquely qualified to expose average cornerbacks because they have three dynamic receivers on the roster. But the point is that Jackson was much closer to an average player when he wasn’t facing CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.
Dallas needs another average cornerback. And Jackson has proven over the course of his career, that when he’s not facing Dallas, he can be an average player. It also doesn’t hurt that he knows Christian Parker’s defense and has some special teams ability (as a returner), which makes him all the more valuable.
Jackson would be a wise signing for Dallas, as he can help raise the floor of the back-end cornerbacks on the roster. The Cowboys obviously wouldn’t want him out on the field too often, but it would provide some stability behind their top three cornerbacks, should they need to use him.
