OTAs are officially in the books, meaning the only thing separating the Dallas Cowboys from training camp in California is a three-day mandatory minicamp from June 16-18, followed by summer break that will run through the middle of July.
The return of football will feel very real once training camp kicks off, but plenty was learned at OTAs, and odds are minicamp will provide even more clarity on some of the biggest storylines.
In the meantime, the Cowboys' cornerback competition already seems to have some clarity. It's admittedly tough to predict who will even be on the 53-man roster come August, but as far as the CB2 battle is concerned, Cobie Durant has pulled ahead of Shavon Revel.
Before Dallas announced a left tackle competition, the CB2 position was arguably the biggest concern among fans entering the offseason program. While the competition is far from over, Durant's emergence has given Christian Parker a much clearer picture of where things stand.
Cowboys' free agent signing Cobie Durant is winning the CB2 battle
The Cowboys inked Durant to a one-year, $1.5 million contract during the first week of free agency. A fourth-round pick of the Rams in 2022, Durant started 39 games over four years in Los Angeles, tallying seven interceptions, 26 passes defended, and two pick-sixes.
Never one to shy away in high-pressure situations, Durant led all players in the 2026 playoffs with three INTs and seven pass deflections.
That ball production showed up at OTAs, as Durant recorded the first interception of the offseason, jumping a Dak Prescott pass that was intended for Traeshon Holden. He later broke up a pass in the same practice and applied sticky coverage on a pass over the middle that was complete to Ryan Flournoy.
Durant has practiced with the first-team defense, seeing reps both on the outside and in the nickel. Meanwhile, Revel has gotten work with the starters and second-stringers.
That's not the end of the world, but it encapsulates the current pecking order.
There is plenty of time for Revel to make up ground. He's no longer wearing a knee brace and told reporters that his knee is 100 percent healthy. That update is more significant than anything Revel could have shown on the field.
If Revel returns to the pre-injury player many viewed as the top cornerback in the 2025 draft class, the Cowboys could suddenly have an enviable dilemma at CB2.
For now, though, he's looking up at Durant, who has a legitimate chance to be this year's Javonte Williams: A modest free-agent signing who far exceeds expectations and becomes a huge contributor.
