Dak Prescott made more Cowboys history in Week 17 win over Washington

While the Dallas Cowboys obviously weren't playing for anything postseason-related in their Week 17 matchup with the Washington Commanders, they knew that a win over their longtime rivals would get them one step closer to avoiding back-to-back losing seasons for the first time since a trio of 5-11 campaigns from 2000 to 2002.

And while many fans of America's Team didn't actually want Dallas to win for draft-order purposes, the Cowboys gifted them one on Christmas Day anyway, jumping out to a 21-3 lead and ultimately improving to 7-8-1 on the year with a 30-23 victory.

Dak Prescott certainly didn't have his most efficient day, completing a season-low 51.4 percent of his passes. As such, he saw his streak with at least a 60 percent completion rate come to an end at 15 games. Had Prescott extended that streak to 16, he actually would have taken sole possession of the longest such single-season streak in franchise history. But since he didn't, he remains in a tie with Tony Romo.

And there's now yet another record Prescott shares with Romo. With two touchdown passes against the Commanders, Dak has now reached 30 for the year. That now gives him four seasons with at least 30, tying him with Romo for the most in franchise history. And with a couple more in Week 18, he'll make a little more history.

Dak Prescott can take another top-5 spot on the Cowboys' all-time passing TDs list

For those unaware, Prescott and Romo are actually the only two quarterbacks in Cowboys history to ever reach the 30-TD mark.

  • Dak Prescott: 37 (2021)
  • Dak Prescott: 36 (2023)
  • Tony Romo: 36 (2007)
  • Tony Romo: 34 (2014)
  • Tony Romo: 31 (2013)
  • Tony Romo: 31 (2011)
  • Dak Prescott: 30 (2025)
  • Dak Prescott: 30 (2019)

As you can see, if Prescott plays in Week 18 against the New York Giants and throws the same two touchdown passes he did against Big Blue back in Week 2, he'll take over a third slot among the top five.

And since we're on the subject of a top five, with 307 passing yards in the win over Washington, Dak now has 4,482 yards for the year, thus moving him into the top five on the Cowboys' single-season list, which also only includes him and Romo.

  • Tony Romo: 4,903 (2012)
  • Dak Prescott: 4,902 (2019)
  • Dak Prescott: 4,516 (2023)
  • Tony Romo: 4,483 (2009)
  • Dak Prescott: 4,482 (2025)
