Unfortunately for Dallas Cowboys fans, Dak Prescott is frequently disrespected. It has reached a point where it’s expected, and for the most part, easy to ignore. However, ahead of the 2025 season, the disrespect is being elevated to a level of nonsense that needs to be called out. One writer recently asked if Prescott was washed, but that has already been surpassed by an even wilder take.

The most recent example of disrespect came in a Bleacher Report piece by Alex Kay, where Kay named five quarterbacks who could be benched in 2025.

Wildly enough, Dak Prescott was the second quarterback listed. Kay argued that Prescott showed signs of a regression last season before his injury, and questions if the injury will accelerate his regression.

However, that wasn’t even the biggest reason for Prescott being on this list. According to Kay, “the presence of Joe Milton III” may lead to Dallas benching Dak Prescott.

"The biggest reason Dallas may put Prescott on the bench is the presence of Joe Milton III, who the Cowboys traded for earlier this offseason.

The 25-year-old is one of the more intriguing young backups in the league and impressed heavily during his rookie training camp with the New England Patriots. While his presence could light a fire under Prescott, it could also spell the end of his longstanding tenure as the Dallas starter."

Let’s be for real. Milton has played one game in his NFL career, and it was a Week 18 matchup against a Buffalo Bills team that was getting ready for the postseason. Sure, the young quarterback had an impressive outing, and has all the physical tools in the world, which is why Dallas traded for him, but he’s not unseating Dak Prescott.

It would take a level of disaster from Prescott that he’s never demonstrated in his career for that to even be a sensible move.

The only way the veteran quarterback will be on the bench is if he sustains another injury. Otherwise, he’ll be on the field starting for Dallas just as he has the last nine seasons. With new weapons on offense, Prescott will be working to make all these critics look foolish.
