The Dallas Cowboys may have the America's Team moniker and their past Super Bowls giving them a degree of prestige, but there may be no team in the league that is run in a more chaotic, unusual, and utterly dumbfounding way than Jerry Jones' favorite cash cow.
Even when they have one of the game's true superstars in pass rusher Micah Parsons, Jones thinks that the best way to hammer out a deal is to negotiate an informal handshake agreement and they go ballistic when Parsons had the temerity to ask his agent if this deal made sense.
After months of bubbling frustration, Parsons was traded away to the Green Bay Packers for a package headlines by two first-round NFL Draft picks and nose tackle Kenny Clark. Not only did Parsons end up getting traded to a contender in the NFC, but the Cowboys will face off against him.
Dallas will welcome Parsons and his new teammates in Green Bay to Dallas in Week 4, which is setting the stage for a domination at the hands of a player who every other GM would have kept in town for the long haul.
Weirdest Cowboys storyline of 2025 is the aftermath of Micah Parsons trade
The Cowboys' decision to trade Parsons for pennies on the dollar was clearly the wrong choice to make, but Jones somehow managed to make things worse with an odd press conference in which he often rambled for as long as 11 minutes in a row. Fans were left with more questions than answers.
Parsons was even trying his best to find some way to agree to a contract with Dallas, but a comment from the front office reportedly told Parsons to "play on the 5th year option or leave" after the well had been poisoned even further. Jones couldn't help but make things worse.
Week 4 is sure to be one of the games every fan will have circled on their calendar. Parsons joining a loaded Green Bay team that is already one of the youngest teams in the league and dominating in his return is sure to get Cowboys fans even more irritated than they already are (if that is possible).
As long as Jones keeps his iron grip on the Cowboys well into his golden years, it seems as though fans need to accept the fact that this team will consistently make moves that boggle the mind at every turn.
