Cowboys' Week 5 domination may have broken a Jets star beyond repair

The Dallas Cowboys may not have an easier victory all season than their 37-22 beatdown of the New York Jets on Sunday.

While the final score implies the Jets were within striking distance, they scored a meaningless touchdown with 4:31 left in regulation. For all intents and purposes, the game was over by halftime. The Cowboys clearly took their foot off the gas on offense in the second half.

The Jets, meanwhile, are now the NFL's last winless team at 0-5. Each loss has felt more demoralizing than the last, and tensions in the locker room appear to have reached a breaking point. Most notably, running back Breece Hall sounded like a player who no longer wants to be associated with the franchise.

Cowboys may have pushed Jets RB Breece Hall to request a trade

"I'm worried about winning football games," Hall said. " I'm not worried about having fun right now. I'm in my fourth year, and I don't have a lot of time left to prove what I want to do and who I can be in this league."

That's a damning quote to begin with, but Hall looked downright defeated in his media availability. It's hard to blame him, as the Jets fell to 0-5 on Sunday and currently own the league's third-worst point differential at -48. Head coach Aaron Glenn is saying all of the right things, but it is clear his message isn't resonating with the locker room. This team is making a beeline for the No. 1 overall pick next year.

A second-round pick in 2022, Hall is one of the Jets' most talented players. Trading him would only make winning more difficult, but at some point, the front office has to look to the future. With Hall in the final year of his rookie contract, trading him before the deadline could be in the cards.

Hall has frequently been floated as a potential trade target for the Cowboys. But with the way Javonte Williams is running the rock, trading for a standout RB would make very little sense, especially one on an expiring contract like Hall. That isn't to say Dallas couldn't use more juice in their backfield, but they won't have to look hard to find a RB who's cheaper than Hall and under contract through 2026.

Regardless, it is clear that Hall is fed up with losing, and the Cowboys might have pushed him to his breaking point. He's definitely someone to watch as we get closer to the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
