It seems like a long shot that Deion Sanders will become the Dallas Cowboys' head coach, but the rumors are getting louder.
In light of that buzz, a concerning number of media members have suggested the impractical idea of Dallas trading Dak Prescott to move up in the 2025 NFL Draft and select Shedeur Sanders. This exercise obviously has Deion as the team's head coach.

Not only does Prescott have a no-trade clause, but trading him would result in over $100 million in dead cap. That would be a non-starter for most franchises. While Deion has been outspoken about wanting to coach his sons in the NFL, he'll have to give that up if he takes the Dallas job.
With the media spreading illogical ideas, let's dive into a Cowboys 2025 mock draft that is actually realistic. In this mock, Dallas trades the No. 12 overall pick to Seattle for picks 18 and 50. Therefore, we will project four picks - Nos. 18, 44, 50 and 76.
Dallas Cowboys three-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft
Round 1, Pick 18: Kelvin Banks, OT, Texas
There are mixed opinions about whether Banks will play tackle or guard. A left tackle at Texas, Banks could be in consideration with the 12th pick if Dallas stays put so getting him six picks later after trading back is great value.
Banks was a bookend tackle throughout his Longhorns career, but he dominated in 2024, allowing just four pressures on 143 true pass sets, per Pro Football Focus.
Offensive line isn't a pressing need, but Tyler Guyton had an underwhelming rookie year plagued by penalties and the great Zack Martin could retire. Left tackle and right guard are huge question marks and Banks could fill either hole.
Round 2, Pick 44: Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall
The Cowboys should sprint to the podium if Green is there at No. 44.
A Virginia transfer who played his final season at Marshall, Green is one of the most athletic players in this class. He snuck into the first-round (No. 27 to the Commanders) of Dane Brugler's most recent mock draft for The Athletic after leading the nation this season with 21 sacks.
Dallas absolutely needs another EDGE to pair with Micah Parsons. Not only are Carl Lawson and Chauncey Golston free agents, but Sam Williams is coming off a torn ACL and will be in the final year of his rookie contract and Marshawn Kneeland is a better run defender than pass rusher at this point in his career.
Green can be a three-down player from day one.
Round 2, Pick 50: TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Ohio State
Many Cowboys fans understandably are on the Ashton Jeanty bandwagon. While nobody should throw a fit if Jeanty ends up being the pick in round one, there is SO much value at running back on day two and beyond. Henderson is every bit a part of that.
The aforementioned Dane Brugler actually mocked Henderson to Dallas at pick No. 44. Either way, the former Buckeye would be a tremendous addition to the offense. He's one of the more explosive RBs in the class and has elite vision in the open field. He clocked a max speed of 22 mph on his long touchdown run against Oregon in the College Football Playoff.
If the Cowboys re-sign Rico Dowdle, we're hard-pressed to think of a better complement to his running style than Henderson.
Round 3, Pick 76: Tre Harris, WR, Ole Miss
Finding a No. 2 receiver for CeeDee Lamb should arguably be Dallas' biggest priority this offseason. Brandin Cooks is a free agent and Jalen Tolbert is to inconsistent to be anything more than WR3. Jonathan Mingo will be in the mix for targets but your guess is as good as ours in terms of what role he carves out.
Tre Harris could arguably jump Tolbert and Mingo in year one. At 6-3 and 210 pounds, he is your prototypical X receiver.
Harris loves to get physical at the line of scrimmage and work the sideline. He averaged 5.15 yards per route run in 2024 and even posted impressive YAC numbers (7.7 yards after catch per reception) for a taller receiver. He also had the highest target rate in man coverage of any WR in this class.
Harris' ball-tracking ability to stretch the field and make catches in traffic have drawn comparisons to Broncos star receiver Courtland Sutton. The former Rebel needs to be considered for Dallas at pick 76.
