The Dallas Cowboys are in need of cornerback help, especially with the uncertain status of Trevon Diggs entering the season. Jourdan Lewis left in free agency and now the Cowboys are in need of at least one starting cornerback to pair with Daron Bland. But where might they find their next star cornerback?

The 2025 NFL Draft doesn’t have the top-end talent at cornerback for the Cowboys to consider picking one at No. 12. But there are plenty of good options who are expected to be available in Round 2, including Maxwell Hairston, Trey Amos, and Benjamin Morrison.

One player that Dallas could target at No. 44 is Shavon Revel, an outstanding prospect from East Carolina. Revel comes in at No. 39 on the consensus board, which is well in the range for the Cowboys in Round 2. And now, they are set to meet with Revel ahead of the draft on a 30 visit, according to Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network:

Revel is one of the more fascinating cornerback prospects in this class, considering he missed most of the 2024 season with a torn ACL. The surgery was completed by Dr. Daniel Cooper, the team physician of the Dallas Cowboys. For that reason alone, the Cowboys might feel more comfortable taking him in Round 2 compared to other teams. This was the case back in 2016 when they selected Jaylon Smith in Round 2 despite a major knee injury.

Revel is a long, physical cornerback who has elite athleticism and can play man-to-man at the next level. He doesn’t have a ton of ball production, but he has the traits to be a high-end starter in the NFL. It might take him a while to get up to speed and there is a chance that he will miss most of the offseason workouts, but without the ACL injury, Revel would have been a lock top-25 selection.

The Cowboys have a history of taking talented, but injured players in Round 2 of the NFL Draft. The list includes Sean Lee, Bruce Carter, and Jaylon Smith. They’ve also taken other risks in that range (Randy Gregory, Sam Williams, etc). Revel feels very much like a pick the Cowboys would make, and he fills a big need.

The Cowboys will meet with several players over the next few weeks as they prepare for the NFL Draft in less than a month. But Revel sure seems like a player the Cowboys could target on the second day of the NFL Draft, should he be available.
