The Dallas Cowboys came to play before the NFL's legal tampering period got underway, which comes as no surprise after they nearly traded for Maxx Crosby over the weekend.

Per multiple reports, the Cowboys traded a 2027 fourth-round pick for Packers pass rusher Rashan Gary, who's accumulated 46.5 sacks and 110 quarterback hits in his seven-year career.

Gary fills a major need, as Jadeveon Clowney, Dante Fowler, Sam Williams, and Payton Turner are all unrestricted free agents. However, Dallas is seemingly keen on adding more talent, as it restructured the contracts of Terence Steele and Malik Hooker.

Per Ian Rapoport, Dallas and Steele restructured a new deal that includes $22 million in fully guaranteed money and a base value of $33 million, freeing up nearly $13 million in cap space.

Hooker's restructure was also a re-worked deal that creates $2 million in cap space. That adds $15 million to the pot, with more to come.

It's widely expected that Dallas will adjust Kenny Clark's contract. An extension is reportedly in the works, but a restructure remains an option if the two sides can't finalize a deal.

Quinnen Williams, who carries a $21.6 million cap hit, is another restructure candidate. The same can be said for Osa Odighizuwa, DaRon Bland, and Jake Ferguson, though the Cowboys would be wise to leave the latter two alone after failing to get great returns on those extensions to this point.

Steele seemingly agreed to take a pay cut, as he was set to earn over $48 million over the next three years. This is effectively a three-year, $33 million deal, which means Steele is now making $11 million per year. That would make him the 16th-highest-paid right tackle in the NFL, which is very fair given how he's played since signing an extension three years ago.

Speaking of adding more cap space, ESPN's Todd Archer expects Dallas to re-work Gary's contract, which has no guaranteed money left.

Long story short: Jerry Jones isn't done yet. He's backed up his words so far, and there's no reason to think he'll change course now.
