Cowboys' Jerry Jones looks like a man who's ready to fire Matt Eberflus

The only bright spot to come out of Sunday's game against the LA Chargers is that there are only two games left in the season, and the Dallas Cowboys didn't do anything to convince Jerry Jones that he shouldn't make any significant changes after the season.

While the offense hit a wall after halftime, Matt Eberflus' defense once again offered zero resistance against a limited offense. Eberflus moved to the booth after calling plays from the sideline all season, and it didn't provide any spark whatsoever.

While the Cowboys were eliminated from playoff contention before the game kicked off, you would have liked to see more fight from a defense whose coordinator is fighting for his job.

The FOX broadcast panned to Jerry Jones' owner suite as the final seconds ticked off. To say Jones looked miserable would be an understatement (h/t to Briana Aldridge of CBS News Texas).

Jerry Jones has the look of someone who's fed up with Matt Eberflus

Yeah, that does not bode well for Eberflus.

The Chargers put up 34 points with ease, with Justin Herbert throwing for 300 yards and two touchdowns while averaging a preposterous 10.0 yards per attempt. It marked just the fourth time this season that Herbert threw for at least 300 yards, and his 79.3 completion rate was his best of the year.

Quarterbacks posting their best game of the season against Dallas has been a theme all season, and it drew the ire of Jones in the middle of the week.

"It seems like we’re always saying that about these (opposing) quarterbacks. Some of them hadn’t played as well, but when they play us, they play better," Jones told 105.3 The Fan. "I think that’s telling, too."

You wouldn't know it, but Sunday presented a get-right matchup for the Cowboys' defense. Entering Week 16, Herbert was tied for the most-sacked quarterback in the NFL with 49, including 11 in the last two games. Sunday marked the first game all season in which Herbert was not sacked.

The Chargers were down both of their starting tackles. While Dallas' EDGE room needs an overhaul in the offseason, literally every defense Los Angeles has faced has been able to get home on Herbert. Aside from the occasional rushed throw, Eberflus' group couldn't find a path to the quarterback.

Jones has not hinted either way about Eberflus' future. But he had the look of someone ready to move on from his DC.
