The Dallas Cowboys might not be playing in their stadium right now, but AT&T Stadium -- sorry, Dallas Stadium -- has still had plenty going on this summer. The Cowboys' home turf has been one of the host sites of the 2026 World Cup and hosted the semi-final match between France and Spain.
During the match, which ended as a surprising 2-0 victory for Spain, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was shown on the big screen. This did not please those in attendance at Dallas Stadium, who loudly booed Jones, making their thoughts on him crystal clear.
The boos were loud enough to hear during the broadcast as well, making for an embarrassing moment for the Cowboys owner and de facto GM. Getting booed in your own stadium is about as awkward and humbling as it gets.
Jerry Jones booed by fans during World Cup match in Cowboys stadium
This isn't a surprise to anyone, though, especially not to Cowboys fans. Jones isn't exactly a beloved figure around the NFL, and while he didn't put himself on the Jumbotron, it makes sense that fans at a soccer match wouldn't care to see the Cowboys' owner on the screen during the festivities.
Jones has always been a pro at making things that don't pertain to him about him, and those in attendance for France vs. Spain seemingly wanted no part of it.
It was a big moment for Dallas, getting to host the semifinal of one of the biggest events in the world, and they weren't about to let Jones hog the spotlight, even if he so kindly let them use his beloved stadium for the event.
Fortunately for Jones, his stadium's time as a World Cup host came to an end with the conclusion of that match.
Unfortunately for him, there will be plenty more opportunities for him to get booed and dunked on by his own city when the Cowboys' season officially gets underway in a little under two months.
The fun never stops, does it?
