Following the blockbuster George Pickens trade, there's been talks about the Dallas Cowboys bringing in some final pieces to compete for a Super Bowl next season.

One massive name spreading around this offseason that's been linked to the Cowboys is star cornerback Jalen Ramsey. A seven-time Pro Bowler, Ramsey has been looking to get back into serious postseason contention, and Dallas could be a perfect opportunity for that.

With the talks halting for the last week, it appears the smoke has finally cleared. While speaking with reporters, Stephen Jones made a definitive statement about Ramsey after Tuesday's OTA practice that will have Cowboys fans frustrated after some high anticipation.

Stephen Jones completely shuts down any talk about a Ramsey trade

When Jones was asked if there's anything to the Ramsey smoke, he said, "No, he plays for the Dolphins."

This is a pretty telling quote from Stephen. Not only is he shutting down the idea of Ramsey joining the Cowboys, but he's telling reporters that no one is "on the front burner" right now. It seems Dallas is content with its current team, and it's not going to include Ramsey on it.

This the typical Jones route.

Whenever trade rumors, however flimsy, start to perk up, the talk either gets shuts down completely or the rumor gains more attraction by the Joneses not leaving anything off the table just yet. Jones is seemingly making it pretty clear that the Cowboys don't want - or can't afford - Ramsey.

That doesn't mean the front office won't make a move closer to training camp. Last August, the Cowboys added to their defensive tackle rotation by trading for Jordan Phillips and signing Linval Joseph.

We like to think the Joneses are aware of the state of the CB room. Surely they aren't content trotting out DaRon Bland, Kaiir Elam and Andrew Booth against the Eagles in the season-opener.

Jones' quote doesn't rule out a trade in the future. Just don't expect it to be Jalen Ramsey.
